Two

Edward Denson and Katelen
Blacklaw of Woodland, Washington,
both 15, were hit

by an Amtrak train
at 7:10 Tuesday evening
while standing on the
tracks. The teens were

waiting for a southbound freight
to pass on the
other track. Seemingly, they
did not hear or

see the northbound
train approaching, though there
is no curve in
that segment of railway.

Train safety expert Bob
Boston said many accidents
happen as Tuesday’s did,
one train’s noise drowning

out another. “When one
one train goes by,
they get hit, having
no idea the other’s

coming.” The train’s crew
requested to be taken
off duty. Tax on
cigarettes increases 62 cents.
